Today i took the iBook to work as i mentioned yesterday.
And i installed Mac OS 9.1 to get some firmware updates. This improved the speed of the computer drastically and allowed for larger memory banks! yay!
My boss gave me a 80GB harddisk and a 512MB PC-100 SO-DIMM to upgrade the laptop with. Gifts are always cool. hehe! Super nice of him! And it’s even faster now…
Unlucky that with the taking apart the rubber covering on the bottom case tore off a bit. So i am in negotiations with a parts reseller to buy a new bottom case. If that doesn’t work out i probably end up glueing the thing… Any tips on nicely glueing rubber to smooth plastic with lots of edges and curves? I bet most solutions either look ugly or the rubber soaks it all up becoming sturdy and crap. So i opt for a new bottom case in the first place.
Anyway, besides that i just want to put an Airport card in the machine to enable Wifi, though those are quite expensive so i didn’t get that yet. I am going to at later stage though.
Currently i am installing Mac OS 10.4 on it. Which works quite nicely.
