Mac Mini Sound CableOr so i thought…. After crashing the software last week it’s been standing here idle. But today i found a new purpose (experiment) to do with it.

No more servers, i have solved that otherwise. But to make it a sort of stand-by computer for lengthy tasks or an occasional game or something. Anyway, it didn’t work. The computer appeared fine but no sound was available. Upon checking the system profile after installing the OS it seemed the complete soundcard was missing. “Luckily” this is about the only seperate electronics part there is. Everything else is on the Logicboard.

After opening up the Mac Mini the flatcable was loose. With it’s latch undone. Meaning, logically, that after the ram upgrade the previous owner did the cable never had been secured properly.

Speaking of improper care for your Mac….

Anyway, after re-attaching it the sound worked fine again. Phew!
