Is there? Really? Is your life busy and entertaining enough to post on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and whatever network you’re on *and* fill a blog?
I can’t… But i’m a bit boring when it comes to sharing stuff so maybe i’m missing the point.
And don’t say “i’m a problogger, i make my money with it”. There is no such thing as “pro blogging.”
However, if you would post actual content on social networks. Does a blog really add anything? And with social networking becoming more and more involved in everyday life. What use is a blog these days.
A few years ago you’d have a gallery on your blog. And write actual posts about what happens in your life. And people would respond, over time. Dropping by by finding you, via your RSS feed or whatever. Also many blogs would never get any visitors at all because nobody cared.
These days it’s a little different. Many write blog posts. Lengthy ones and promote them on social networks.
Even more people dropped or forgot about their blog a bit and only occasionally write on it. But their everyday stuff gets posted on things like Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. No more lengthy posts about the past few days or that cool thing you saw on the way to work. But short bursts of the past few minutes, on the spot. When and where it happens. And people respond instantly. Which is fine, but it renders your blog useless.
With that in mind. Personal blogs and casual sites about peoples lives are no longer needed.
Should people just move on? Or is blogging moving away from long to short posts and is a Facebook wall, Google stream or Twitter feed your blog now? Even though nobody calls them blogs. If they replace blogs and essentially tell the same story… They are blogs. In a sense.
