Events 1.5
Written by Arnan on August 5, 2008 – 11:22 pmA huge update to Events.
Fret not… If you follow the upgrade instructions you’ll be fine! And this is another great opportunity to try out the CustomQuery plugin…
So, what’s in store:
- [change] Time and date are now separated - %starttime% %startdate% and %endtime% %enddate% are the new tags
- [fix] Archive now counts up properly
- [change] %starttime% is now %countdown%
- [change] %date% is now %starttime%
- [change] For archive; %countdown% is now %countup%
- [fix] Settings are now properly checked and ‘corrected / reset’ when things are missing
- [fix] All-day events are now properly handled (acknowlegded) by the countdown timer
- [fix] Events occurring multiple days now also show up in ‘todays events’ when appropriate
- [fix] Widget leaves out empty title field
- [new] Manageable categories
- [new] Shortcode to select a category
- [change] MySQL error now links to meandmymac.net
- [change] MySQL table checking, checks per table
This! That… And as with new features like categories… You need to alter the database. Again! Don’t blame me… i didn’t want the categories. You did! It has been requested many many times now.
Anyway.

Events 1.4
Written by Arnan on July 26, 2008 – 8:40 pmAnother update for Events.
This update brings no significant new changes other than a few bugfixes and WP shortcodes.
In usage this doesn’t change much as coincidentally the
Important events
New year!, Fireworks!!! on 31 Dec 2008 23:00
in 40 days and 08:50 hours.
Duration: No duration!
Test, test $500 dollars on 04 Jan 2009
in 43 days and 09:50 hours.
Duration: No duration!

This is a long event. Over 120 characters i think., I didn't count but it think its a pretty long event. As you can see it's cut of for the sidebar and shows in fully on the Events page. on 02 Jun 2010 10:00
in 557 days and 19:50 hours.
Duration: No duration!

An event in the distant future, Yea you can plan years and years ahead... on 26 Jul 2025 11:45
in 6090 days and 21:35 hours.
Duration: No duration!
However, with the new features you can override certain aspects of the plugin configuration using the new shortcode syntax. For example you can limit the amount of events show on a page list using:
[events_list amount="12"]Where 12 is the amount shown, obviously. This works for the archive and todays list too!
Another change is the loss of all 4 Title fields on the language settings. This is now done directly in the theme. So make sure to reset the Titles for the sidebar, page, archive and todays list in the template settings.

Minor buggery stuff!
Written by Arnan on July 18, 2008 – 4:44 pmEvents user Beth has uncovered a small bug in the parsing of the Archive and Today’s listing of events.
This is fixed as of now. Please if you have trouble parsing %link% redownload the plugin and overwrite wp-events-functions.php with the new file.
No new version has been issued.
Thanks Beth!

Written by Arnan on July 17, 2008 – 11:46 pmA big/huge/large update today! Including many feature requests and some changes as well as some bugfixes (minor ones)
And here is the changelog:
[change] Widget now integrated into the plugin, this should fix future version mismatches
[change] Updated options panel for widget
[new] Link to add event on manage page
[new] Locations for events
[new] All day events
[fix] Minor bugfixes in the parsing of events on archives
[fix] Titles of links are now better parsed
[new] In management, events now can be sorted by location
[change] Events description field is enlarged a fair bit
[change] All options are now split up in 3 groups (options/templates/languages) You might need to reset all options!
[fix] If HH:MM are 00:00 it is filtered out from the timestamp %date%
Not so much not so much at all! ha!
Take note that with this new version the whole ’settings’ setting is overhauled and thus might require you to configure Events from the ground up. So don’t be surprised if your template or language is gone.
Oh and before upgrading read the damn upgrade instructions, they have real purpose and are very important! Especially with this upgrade!

Events v1.2
Written by Arnan on July 11, 2008 – 1:12 amSome new things here. And a database upgrade! So DO NOT use the automated installed from Wordpress!
Anyway, i found a weird bug in the sidebar code which has been fixed. Events titles now safely can be made a link using a neat and simple checkmark. Also the deleting of events has been optimized and expanded a bit, a new option in the ‘edit event’ screen now lets you delete your event right there and then.
If youre upgrading, carefully read the upgrade instructions. It’s not hard. But it can break your site if done wrong!

Events v1.0
Written by Arnan on May 21, 2008 – 9:18 pmWoohoo! I have made a big update again and decided it was time to wrap things up regarding the ‘beta’ versions. Allthough Events is pretty stable since version 0.4 it still always was a 0.something version. Indicating an incomplete product.
This is over! After 3 years we have reached version 1.0! And im proud to announce this new version which brings some significant changes.
Changes for this version:
- [update] Completely redesigned manage page
- [change] %time% changed to %starttime%
- [new] End time for events
- [new] Sort order for manage page
- [new] New tags %endtime% and %duration% for the template
- [fix] Multiple minor bugfixes in showing data on the events page
- [fix] Uninstaller no longer uses die() but redirects to plugin page upon uninstalling
Also in order to upgrade to this version you need to edit the database. *eek!* yea… But no worries. I have an easy fix that too!
Go into your phpmyadmin, or whatever database tool you use, and run these 2 queries:
!!! MAKE A BACKUP IF UNSURE AND CHECK THE TABLE NAME !!!
ALTER TABLE `wp_events` ADD `theend` INT( 15 ) NOT NULL AFTER `thetime` ; UPDATE `wp_events` SET theend = thetime WHERE theend = '';
These queries are what i used to upgrade and are generated by phpmyadmin.
This effectively upgrades the Events table to allow ‘enddates’ to be set and sets all the existing events enddates (which do not exist) to the start date. If you don’t all start dates will equal 0 and thats way in the past on january 1 1970… We don’t want that now do we… So be sure to run both queries! BUT ONLY ONCE or other things go awe.
