I haz bluetooth mouse!
Written by Arnan on August 23, 2008 – 7:06 pm
Yes, i found a decent one! After a 3 day search. The “kensington Si670m Bluetooth Wireless Notebook Mouse”. Ha! It’s a 1000dpi thing with a rubber grip. And it looks kinda spiffy.
All be it a small mouse… it’s nice. Responsive and no connection time. Woohoo.
No dongle, no hassle. It just works. Even Steermouse detects it so i can set it’s buttons. And it works really well. But like i said it’s a small mouse so it’s not all good… Look:

As you see, it barely fits my hand, if at all. But for “not-so-much” use it’s quite alright i guess…
i can haz blootooth mouze?
Written by Arnan on August 16, 2008 – 5:18 pmWhy are they extinct? It’s so unfair! i don’t want a RF dongle on my precious laptop!!
Give me back my Logitech MX1000 Bluetooth!
GRRRR!
so yea… The damn thing finally broke last night. I tossed it of the table and wouldn’t lit it’s led or charge. That combined with the lousy charger which almost never worked i decided not even to bother and throw the mouse away, it was aging anyway. And went on to buy a new Bluetooth mouse today. No such luck would come to me.
People seem to be obsessed with RF and it’s stupid sluggish slow way of working. RF is sooooo 1991. Why not use a proper Bluetooth connection. Something a computer actually has built-in these days, well macs anyway, and some PC laptops do, sometimes…
The only bluetooth mouse i found was one from Trust. A cheap brand i won’t even touch the packaging of. It was a whopping 29 euros and has “laser technology with precision pointing array for extra high definition positioning” or some other high tech rubbish. Also it was very small, not even covering the palm of my hand…
All other mice were just “wireless” which practically means RF on “fast 2.4Ghz frequencies for noise free connections”. I don’t know about you, but 2.4Ghz is bound the be trouble… Wifi uses it, DECT phones do too, Wireless TV receivers and even Microwaves all mess about with that frequency and thus most likely will interfere with each other at some point. Especially since everyone uses it…
My search continues!
Any “formed-to-your-hand” Bluetooth mouse that is larger than average. Like the Logitech MX1000 or MX510 is good to consider i guess.

AdRotate 0.8
Written by Arnan on August 11, 2008 – 8:47 pmAs requested a few times. I have integrated a simple widget into the plugin. This thing can be used for the sidebar and allows a specific banner or multiple groups and random banners. Just like the shortcodes or functions calls.
Download will be up shortly…

Woohoo an iphone
Written by Arnan on August 7, 2008 – 5:05 pm
So today I finally got the iphone from my co-worker…
Neat! Resetting the thing turned to be a troublesome task and I had to ‘pwn’ the phone again to use it.
But it works now!!!!
This is my first post from the phone. Whee!

Written by Arnan on July 27, 2008 – 11:43 pmIn the light of better support i thought we need a forum. I have 9 plugins now and expect quite some downloads from that. Therefor also people are going to ask questions and a series of silly guestbook style pages just won’t cut it then.
So today i invested in setting up bbPress on a subdomain. I have removed the *original* support pages and moved the FAQ’s to the forums too. All over the website the links have been updated and the Wordpress Repositories are up to date.
You can find the forums at http://forum.at.meandmymac.net. Have fun!
And damn bbPress is a bitch to set up… Clearly it’s not a finished product and i kept bumping into errors, bugs or weird stuff all day. But i managed to get it working with some help from _ck_ over at #bbpress. I had to alter a few plugins and am thinking about creating some of my own as bbPress is all it’s lightness, just misses some features and the current plugins won’t fill the gap. But all in all i think i have put together a decent forum with most functions available.

Written by Arnan on July 22, 2008 – 11:47 amI’m on a roll lately, 3 new plugin in as much days…
This time around i made a plugin for upgrading stuff via database queries. This effectively takes out the PhpMyAdmin approach for most people making it way easier to update database tables to something else when required.
It goes without saying that this plugin requires some common sense in use and if used wrongly (E.g. faulty queries) your website may be damaged.

And another one: HiddenMedia
Written by Arnan on July 20, 2008 – 5:23 pmI noticed a missing feature in Wordpress. The ability to hide images from the excerpt or main page. Well that’s over now… HiddenMedia to the rescue! I kind of announced it yesterday… The flash thing on there is not shown on the index loop. Check it out… Also its embedded using a object provided by the plugin. Neat!
This plugin allows you to insert an image or flash animation into a post and with the use of Wordpress shortcodes you can hide the item from the index loop but show it just fine on the single post view. It’s really easy, flexible and cool.

A new plugin emerges from the deep: Worthless Plugin
Written by Arnan on July 20, 2008 – 5:18 pmThat’s right… There are over 2000 plugins registered at wordpress.org repositories. And all of them have a purpose. Do something useful or are otherwise not-worthless.
This plugin is different and therefor unique from all of them; It is not useful to use this plugin. It doesn’t do anything interesting (which is kinda interesting in itself) and does not enrich your site with new features or functions.
So what DOES it do? Upon activation it sets the goal at a default of 300 and generates a random number out of that. Then it starts counting… When it reaches the random set number, something happens (non-violent or destructive, honestly. It’s all about the fun!) and the random number is reset to another random value and starts counting again… FRIGGEN USELESS!! yay! Amazing isn’t it?
The only option this plugin offers is the goal you set. Default is 300. But depending on your sites visits you need to set that to a higher or lower value. It’s all up to you…

It’s fricken epic!
Written by Arnan on July 19, 2008 – 2:20 pmlol
More after the jump!Found it on some site… And i never uploaded something flash to my website and wanted to see how that went… It was an epic adventure to find out! I now realize i need a flash-embedding-thing if i want to do it again!
I also wanted the noisy flash not to show in the index listing…
And so i went into #wordpress and talked a bit to to simonwheatley_. He suggested to use ‘Shortcodes‘. I had no clue what that was, but it seems it’s a new feature in Wordpress 2.5 and up. Allowing people to use things like [somerandomfunction] in posts and have it do amazing things.
He put together a tiny example. With that and the API i mocked up a quick plugin to get flash embedded
yarrr!!
Usage will be a snap:
[hiddenmedia width="384" height="288" url="http://meandmymac.net/wp-content/uploads/its_frickin_epic.swf" loop="true" autoplay="true" urltitle="More after the jump!"]
Is the code for the flash used in this post for example… And most variables will be optional, too. To make it even easier.
I’ll release a version soon i think. Stay tuned.
